UNICO Hinaishin Needles utilize the intradermal treatment method developed by Dr. Akabane to increase, or replenish, Qi and is excellent for prolonged pain relief. Intradermal needles are thin, usually between 3-7 mm in length and can be left in place for 2-3 days. Hinaishin needles are inserted horizontally beneath the skin with tweezers and secured with tape. This will ensure hygiene and comfort for the patient. Patients can continue with normal physical activities and bathing as usual and should not notice the needles at all.

This methodology believes that the intradermal needle is embedded in the most sensitive tissue area, very beneficial for replenishing Qi and relieving pain. Because the needle is inserted horizontally, it will stimulate a larger area of tissue rather than a regular needle inserted vertically into the muscle layer. Hinaishin treatment is enhanced by body movement, which can evoke more stimulation than non-movement.
